International Gateway Belize and Jungle by the Sea offer individual and group programs in Central America’s only English speaking country – BELIZE! Have you ever dreamed of learning English, volunteering or just ‘kicking back’ and relaxing in a tropical destination with the warm waves of the Caribbean caressing your feet? THIS IS YOUR CHANCE!

Belize

Belize (population 300,000), part of the British Commonwealth, is an unspoiled tropical paradise with an average year round temperature of 29C. Tourists and students visit Belize to enjoy Caribbean beaches, Mayan ruins, citrus orchards, rum factories, wildlife and water sports. Popular activities include: zip lining, jungle trekking, kayaking, fishing, birding, snorkeling and scuba diving on the world’s 2nd largest barrier reef. Most importantly over 90% of Belizeans speak English as a first language so your English skills improve very quickly in this total immersion environment.

Hopkins (population 5000), is famous for sport fishing, scuba diving and is the centre of Garifuna culture and drumming. Hopkins is a popular retirement and investment destination for Canadians, Americans and British and as a result it is very safe, welcoming and friendly.

Jungle by the Sea, (the location for ESL programs, accommodation and meals) is located a 15 minute walk from town on a pristine white sand beach. The resort was established by a Canadian family in 2003. International Gateway Belize was established in 2010 also by a Canadian family and facilitates the ESL, internships, volunteer placements and ESL camps. Jungle by the Sea was a finalist for Belize’s ‘Green’ resort of the year in 2010 and winner of the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence in 2011 and 2012 and the Traveler’s Choice Award in 2013.
